People will point towards Tendulkar's greatness, his record, how he has been a tireless performer for India and how he was the top scorer in the first innings of this test match. People will point out that others had equal responsibility, but the fact also is that Tendulkar let us down twice in this match - in the first innings by getting out when he should have guided the team to safety (Laxman remained not out on 50 right?) and in the second innings, he gets out for a duck. A Duck.
Every time it matters, he fails. He comes back from an injury, scores a hundred, everyone sings praises and he starts flopping and flops the worst when it matters the most. But he is given another chance to do god knows what. Does he really deserve a spot in the team? Seriously - he has flopped as miserably as a bunch of Mithun films - oh bad analogy - Mithun films I hear break even and turn in a small profit for his producer.
One might argue who will replace him, even if it is for a single test and what if the replacement performs as badly but how does it matter? We have a 33 year old who is not performing anyway when his peers, people like Jayasuriya, Lara, Ponting, Warne are putting in everything into their game and winning it for their teams despite their age, injuries and "limitations". Does it not make sense in giving our greatest player a signal that he really is not indispensable? That we won't tolerate non-performance?
Drop him. Don't rest him for an injury - publicly drop him for non-performance and let's see him come back into the team hungry for runs, and desperate to prove himself as the greatest because right now he is anything but that.
P.S. He might score a century in a drawn match or be a top scorer in a low scoring match and India might win a test match, but it doesn't matter. We trusted his ability to deliver and he has failed repeatedly, now he has to win it back or go run his restaurant.
P.S: "He" means Tendulkar not Obi :-)

Me 1st to wish Obi wan happy b'day :D
And as a tribute, watch this....
Store wars
Why not add Sehwag and Jaffer to the list??
All the 3 of them suck.
Although I am a new poster to the TCP blog, I am an old timer as far as reading the posts are concerned. So, may I also take the opportunity to wish Obi Wan HAPPY B'DAY.
-mwr
I tend to agree with TCP. People not performing should be sent to Ranji to let them get their form back. First to go should be Sehwag. At least Tendulkar scores occasionally. But why only blame players when the system is also at fault. Why cant't we have some fast and bouncy pitches? But then we recently also struggled on the 'slow' pitches of West Indies. God save our team!!
Wow, I'm second!!!!
I stopped watching cricket long time back (since the betting scandal).. I'm sticking to comics these days :D
@sunshine: Sound strategy!
Third third third!

Waiting for IM's indignant response on this!
@tin tin: do you write tenth, tenth..10 times? :-)
Wish all TCP readers (AND TCP!)a Very Joyous New Year!
May The Ghost Who Walks be always be with you...

N L1 n I share a bday apparently
*studiously ignoring any comments on cricket*
6th.....
@tcp
looks like u want to have a census of people in maharashtra or atleast 'amchi mumbai'
well i dont agree....
The person who should have been dropped long time back is sehwag who has not seen the ground for so long...
Also introducing people who were thrown out for not performing(read ganguly) is not sound ...
and may i repeat that people who never get pats on their back KUMBLE AND LAXMAN....
also the one person who should be kicked ,,,, beaten out is SHARAD PAWAR,,, wat does he know abt cric and also considering his embezzelments in the public domain and his second job as a minister he is definitly and i mean a 100% not the man for the job....
and as he is going to the ICC means we will c fist fights in the ICC boardroom
c'mon the only peoplewho will support him are the ones who actually beleive the LAloo had anuthing to do with the railways ,,,might i dare say,,, success....
by the way ....
HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS........
First in this....;)
Happy New Year to everyone !
@TCP- I agree that SRT should be dropped for a series and be given a personal coach & trainer. In all other disciplines, you have this. He needs to focus and return to cricket to re-estabilish his genius.
But regarding non-performance we have far worthier candidates. The only unsung heroes that we have is truly Dravid & Kumble.
Revealed! Reading between the lines, I gather birthday wishes are in order!
Happy Birthday :-)
And, everyone - Happy New Year!
Happy B'day Obi & Happy New Year to all of you
@Cloudy: TY (reading between the lines, indeed! :P)
I agree totally with TCP. He (Tendulkar) should be dropped. Ask ourselves, In a business if 9% (1 out of 11) is performing like He is in last say 6 yrs. My boss (or any boss) will get rid of that part. But no like DADA if we get rid of him there will be strikes allover India. As he has become bigger than the country/Game. And we as fans have let it hapen.
@sketchy: congrats...Store wars..nice
@shail: major changes required. I wonder what will happen if Tendlya fails again and I dread to think what will happen when he succeeds. because he will again fail when it matters
@mwresearcher: ranji is useless too because most of our national players think its not important to play there anymore
@sunshine: congrats - comics better than cricket i guess
@tintin: whatever happened to your 19th
@cloudy: IM hasnt got anything to say
@revealed: You can't run away from cricket for long :-)
@mg: census of people in bombay? what meaning? Anyway, people with no background in cricket have no business running administration but I am not sure if any of our cricketers have the savvy to be able administrators either.
@oldmanmozz: that's true..they are unsung..laxman never gets full due for his contribution - poor guy doesn't have a single endorsement :-)
@horizon: happy new year to you too
@harsh: tough decisions are taken by tough people..sadly we have softies all around
